Spiral movement

The image of the soft light that bounces and filters through the slats of a jalousie is the starting point of this project. Translating though the strict sequence of parallel slats in a sensual and dynamic shape has proved more complex than expected. We did this by designing a module that repeating itself gives Ray a spiral movement. The polycarbonate was an almost immediate choice due to its qualities. The light that “escaping” through the slats draws the geometry of the lamp. Its quality is the heart of the project. Direct light on the surface of the table and indirect and diffuse in the rest of the room.
